At Cosworth, we aim to design and manufacture custom high performance battery systems by solving our customers pain points. We do this by understanding the application, the required drive and duty cycles, regulatory and customer specifications as well as features required to optimise the energy storage solution. Cosworth have experience of validating battery systems to meet a range of regulatory requirements for transport, safety, EMC, reliability and performance for example UN38.3, ISO26262, ECE-R100 etc.

We analyse this information then determine the most suitable cell module design and cell format. We understand the balance between power and energy density so we can correctly select the best cell chemistry for the application. By doing this we ensure the battery system delivers the features required to meet regulatory and customer needs, will meet the demands of the drive and duty cycles required and the product will achieve the performance, life and total cost of ownership expected by the user.

Optimising range whilst maximising fast charge times (balance between energy and power), concerns over cell degradation, providing systems that are flexible and scalable for different applications, reducing the time and cost to market and securing a complex supply chain.

Cosworth’s CSM (Cylindrical Scalable Module) offers our customers the ability to quickly and cost effectively achieve their energy storage requirements.

Standard: utilises our Modular Packs (separate datasheet) containing our 120-cell CSM’s and EDS with in-built BMS. These are off the shelf and allows the customer to build their own system with a wide range of voltages, capacities and power capabilities.

Customised: uses our 120-cell module but allows a degree of customisation to further refine the voltage, capacity and power.

Optimised: provides a fully bespoke solution (separate datasheet) but still utilises our CSM technology.* The benefits are clear, and customers can join this journey at any stage. *However, if a CSM does not meet the customers exact requirements, then we also offer pouch and prismatic cell formats: NCA, NMC, LFP and LTO cell chemistries with a variety of thermal management methods including plate and immersive.
